One of the projects I had in mind, specifically mentioning obesity in the article, was either the offering of free fitness related classes ( https://melmagazine.com/meet-the-leader ... .k9k1765pd [all of my numbers are better than his] ) or offering free cooking classes that teaches folk how to use cheap ingredients to make healthy meals. Both could easily be politicised against capitalism.

At his best, he could squat 335 pounds, bench 200 and deadlift 280.

What's the deal with his Squat/Deadlift ratio. Normally guys who Squat more than they Deadlift are super heavy weight freaks of nature like Ray Williams.

Physical fitness is fine. I think focusing it around being able to fight back is misguided though. As fun as the idea of training up a bunch of jacked super-proles to lead the fight against capitalism is, real strength in the class struggle comes from numbers and organisation, not how much you bench.

I think a lot of people are 'scared' of a heavy deadlift esp. re: injuries.

However, I find that minor injuries hamper my deadlift a LOT more than my squat which generally remains unaffected. That said my deadlift is higher than my squat (by five pounds).

But yea, my intention with advocating for physical fitness type offerings was more as a way to help the working class fight obesity and less fight fascists. Through the fitness programs etc. I would hope to use them as vehicles to organize the working class as a class. That's what most/all of these organizations should be viewed as, simultaneously means and ends. To be used as means to organize the working class, and as ends in and of themselves to help the working class in the immediate sense.

It's also easy to overlook the social aspect in any organized/organizing context, in every form of organization/organized activity (softball teams and bowling leagues aren't uncommon in US unions for that reason). Both the 2nd and 3rd Internationals had innumerable purely social programs, events, etc.
