[quote="Welshy"]I only said "grave digger of the revolution" because that is what bordiga called him in a speech to Comintern (I believe). I wasn't being entirely serious, this is off topic, however that doesn't change the fact that many ML's including your beloved Hoxha treat Stalin as this great man to be upholded against "counter-revolution". My request from you is defend the claim that ML the soviet union was socialist under Stalin and that steps taken by the Soviet government were steps in strengthening/building socialism.

I am really not in the mood to write a response right now,
Can't you people make RevLeft socks and ask some stalinist, like Omsk or something, there instead of “challenging” me for all kinds of ****?

This thread seems a bit weird. First it's board policy to ban people who try to stir up **** about the Soviet Union being socialist, now it's board policy to provoke any Marxist-Leninist who joins the board into actively discussing the Soviet Union? I can't be the only one that sees the contradiction here. If no-one is going to jump out and accuse the admins of needlessly interfering again I think this thread should probably be locked/trashed.

Stalin and the SU is being done to death every day online. I have other questions for Creep:
Do you think Somalia and Benin were ever socialist?

Stalin is so cool, that Leftcoms are too unworthy to hear why. Creep wins! Comrade Stalin wins the debate! To the gulag you counter-revolutionary Leftcoms! Comrade Stalin is always correct, even when he is wrong.

Seems interesting though

Zero Nowhere says:
Think it's from around the 1970s. It does seem like almost everything written about Marxism in relation to fields like aesthetics, psychology, etc., and even Grossman's, Sayers' or Colletti's works, are written from the perspective of the Soviet Union being socialist. It's a bit uncanny.
And Creep is probably one of RM's most reasonable users, judging by recent Off-Topic threads.
Maybe Stalin was right.

well at least he's not a situationist

Zero Nowhere says:
Well, the anti-art hipster guy (not bmh) is an ex-Trot.
Maybe Stalin was right.

Savage says:
hahahaha yes
At least Stalin engaged with literature
Even if that involved killing most Russian writers

Actually what about Thomas Sankara, wasn't he pro-albania or something? What do you think of him?

[quote="TFM"]sure is revleft in here. not particularly sure why I thanked the OP in the first place, and I'm pretty sure I recall a blanket rule/guideline about 'no debates' anyway.

Wasn't it you who talked about not wanting people to isolate themselves to offtopic locker room trolling?

This was an attempt to get the ball rolling to get him to actively engage us, and was not in bad faith at all (I only do that when I'm really pissed and you haven't seen me like that yet) Maybe the "challenge" was a bit in bad taste but how should I know this was taken so seriously when all else around here is not and even 'I hate women' passes as a joke?

However it kind of strikes me as odd when you say you want to give him the boot for not being active outside offtopic but then do a 180 and say he can'T do that anyway because that would violate board policy (and what else is there than more of the same we all agree on anyway?).

Make up your mind.

Look guys, this was in all honesty not an attempt to stir up ****. It was meant as lighthearted banter to tease him into doing what you guys wanted him to do - talk about the nitty-gritty, in a serious manner (thus the appeal to 'competition' hoping it would bring out the TIGER in him). But it seems you don't actually want that.

Hell did I know this would become a storm in a teacup because now everyone takes everything so seriously once someone drops the Stalin trigger word among all the misogynism, high school drinking binges and My Little Pony discussions.

I'm not sure that anyone's taking anything seriously. It's just that this conversation seems to be a bit of a cubr.
